Workers Compensation
If you sustain a workplace injury or illness, you may be eligible to receive workers’ compensation insurance benefits. Venable covers the costs of providing this insurance, which will pay for certain medical and prescription drug expenses, as well as partial reimbursement for lost wages. Any workplace injury or illness should be reported as soon as possible to the Benefits Department at benefits@venable.com. You will be provided with an Incident Report. Under workers’ compensation rules, employees may be eligible for partial reimbursement of lost wages if they miss a certain number of workdays, which varies by state/jurisdiction, due to a workplace injury or illness. Compensation is based on a percentage of average weekly wages, which also varies based on the state/jurisdiction. You may use available accrued but unused sick or PTO leave to cover the required number of missed workdays for workers’ compensationeligibility. However, any leave that you use for missed workdays or while awaiting approval of workers’ compensation benefits may be recouped by the Firm if your workers’ compensation benefits are
