Benefits Handbook Links - Updated February 2023
To be eligible, you must be employed at Venable for more than 120 days, and work more than 80 hours in New York City in a calendar year. You must notify your supervisor of your request for a temporary schedule change, including that the change is due to a personal event, as soon as you become aware of the need for a temporary schedule change, and you must propose the schedule change you seek (unless you have no available leave and take unpaid time off). Your request does not have to be in writing in advance of taking the time off. However, no later than the second business day after you return to work, you must submit to your supervisor a written request, indicating the date for which the change was requested and that the change was due to a personal event. If you submit a written request prior to the temporary schedule change, you will receive a response no later than 14 days after your request is submitted. We will indicate whether the temporary schedule change is approved, whether it will be unpaid leave, of if your request is denied, the basis for that denial. You will also be notified how many requests and how many business days you have left in the calendar year. These temporary schedule changes are in addition to the existing policy currently in place that allows you to make up time for personal/medical appointments.
