New York Paid Family Leave
The function of this policy is to provide you with a general description of your rights under the New York State Paid Family Leave. In the event of any conflict between this policy and the applicable law, you will be afforded all rights required by law. If you need time off from work to care for or bond with your newly born, adopted or fostered child, care for an immediate family member with a serious health condition, or as a result of a family member being deployed overseas for military service, you may be eligible to receive paid leave through the State’s Paid Family Leave Benefit. Family member includes spouse, domestic partner, child, stepchild, parent, parent-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, and sibling, including biological sibling, adopted sibling, step-sibling and half-sibling. This benefit is funded through a state-mandated employee payroll deduction that will be deducted from your pay. If you are not eligible for coverage, or are not reasonably anticipated to meet the eligibility criteria, you may choose to submit a waiver form so that no deductions are made from your pay. Such waiver form can be obtained from the Benefits Department. If you do not sign the waiver form, you will be subject to the same payroll deductions as eligible employees.
